Teleprompter for PC and Mac
Any laptop.
Any browser.
No download.
Open FDD Teleprompter in your browser on Windows, Mac or a Chromebook and your script scrolls on screen, right under your webcam. The teleprompter is free, there is nothing to install, and your phone can be the remote.
Prompting on a computer, in four steps.
No setup file and no account to create: your Google account signs you in, and the script is saved to it so you can open it again on any computer.
Open it in your browser
Go to teleprompter.filmdistrictdubai.com in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox and sign in with Google.
Paste your script
Type it in, or paste it from Word, Google Docs or an email. Bold, italics and right-to-left text are all supported.
Set it up for your camera
Pick the text size, line spacing, side margins and scroll speed. Mirror it if it goes into a teleprompter glass.
Press Space and read
Space starts and pauses, the arrow keys change the speed, and full screen hides everything but your words.
Keep your eyes on the lens.
On a laptop the camera sits at the top of the screen. Put the words right under it and the people watching see you looking at them, not at your notes.
- Narrow the text. Wider side margins keep the lines short, so your eyes move less and it doesn't look like you're reading.
- Use the eyeline. A reading line marks where you are, in the colour and thickness you like.
- Go full screen. Only the script stays on screen. Double-click or press Escape to come back.
- Jump between parts. Add tags to your script, then use the left and right arrow keys to move between them.
Keyboard shortcuts
Use it next to Zoom, OBS or your camera app.
The prompter is a browser window, so it works with whatever is recording you: Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, OBS, QuickTime, the Windows Camera app, or a camera on a tripod. Put it beside your recording window, or drag it onto a second monitor.
Your phone is the remote
Open the same script on your phone to play, pause, change speed and jump from across the room. Every account gets a free 30-minute trial; Pro keeps it on.
Two screens at once
Show the script on your laptop and on a monitor or a screen by the camera, scrolling together.
Install it like an app
In Chrome or Edge, choose Install App from your account menu. It opens in its own window with its own icon.
Keeps going if Wi-Fi drops
An open script keeps scrolling without a connection, and your changes are saved when you're back online.
